Simple Rules

I  read some where there are three simple rules that can make life easier

Sure there are more and this is NOT the 'be all & end all list of three" but I like it and this can be a start.

1, If you don't do after what you want, you'll never have it

2. If you don't ask, the answer will always be NO

3. If you do not move forward, you'll remain in the SAME Place

What are YOUR rules of a better affirming life?

Better Than

It's easy to measure ourselves against someone who "looks better," makes more money, dances fluently etc. but in the long run, it's our measure or ourselves that count.

In 1862 "TAPS" was first played. Starting with no words or lyrics it was meant to signal the end of the day or end of life. Some time later, the Boy Scouts added words that have meaning to me today and is something I say

"Have I done my daily task..."?

Have I been the person I wanted to be? Have I been faithful to my creed?

Wise questions to ask ourselves so we can be true to others: not a yardstick what others think or do

Lets be the better person each day.

How awesome would it be if those "Fortune Cookies" we read could come true?

Simple, just make them  come to life! Like any positive affirming part of our lives we only need to say it, see it then make it so.

Let's all bring a little sunshine into our lives

Just You

I've found that I can't love someone else until I love myself; really loving  myself hasn't been easy.

Making mistakes, spending too much, re living the past all haunted me but NO MORE

It's all about what's new & good and YOUR a part of all of that.

The things that make you special are what counts. That silly smile, how you read the newspaper & even sip your coffee are like no one else & I adore that as well as embrace it

The one part of making a mistake is to say  "I'm sorry" and that happens when we feel it.

Goodness knows I've made more than my fair share of "oops" moments with people either through what I  said, did or how I acted.

Being contrite with ones self heals the bad times for me and hopefully if what I said or did to some one, will ease the pain of the error

Forward: the way to go

Sure it sounds like I've had an easy life. Sure I've had my share of setbacks, failures & mistakes but holding onto them won't make life better. I learned from errors, taken new paths just by trying.

"Regrets, I've had a few but then again, too few to mention"

Sinatra said it too and so do I.  Look forward that's where the future is: not the past

You're the One

February 14 is Valentines day:  Regardless of it's background or tie to a saint, it's become common to boldly express the love of two people

We LGBTQA people can and need to do that along with all people,

As Sandi Patti sings "Love in Any Language"  the words in her song ring true

Je t'aime
Te amo
Ya ti-bya lyu blyu
Ani o hevet oth kha
I love you

The sounds are all as different
As the lands from which they came
And though our words are all unique
Our hearts are still the same

Be sure to tell not just some one but YOURSELF "I love you" then sharing that care with others is fluid

When I read the statistics of how many people read each entry, my heart skips due to your love of reading these bits of affirmation.

Please do share this and subscribe

PS. I love you

40 days ahead

Today, February 13 is Ash Wednesday & the start of a season called LENT.

For many people Lent is a time they give up something.  Coffee, swearing, chocolate (no not THAT!) and such.

I choose to give up negativity, self depreciation, angst and anger. Hopefully wonderful thoughts and 'things' will grow and develop

What are you doing in this Spring season of change?

You Can and I Know It

Rev. Jesse Jackson opens Operation Push with an affirming chant "I am" then the crowd replies "SOMEBODY." This goes on, back & forth until the auditorium is filled with "I AM SOMEBODY"

Tell that to your self when your down. Tell that to some one else when you can.
The more I believe in me, the  more I can and do believe in you too.

Not Anyone Else

There's that old adage by David Henry Thoreau, "march to the beat of a different drummer" that I try to live by. I'll guess we all think we do too. Do we? Do I?  When I shop for clothes is it to dress the body or the mind I stop to ask myself.
Sure I like to look "good" but for whom?  I am NOT a peacock strutting around with plumage to show off but proud to be ME, the guy I grew up with and HOPEFULLY know the best.

That song from Man of La Mancha, "I gotta be me" is my new theme song and how I'll do my best to live

Be you, your the best at being that person

Take Time

Keeping busy with work or school or what it is that we DO can take a toll.

Have you turned ever just hung out the "Do Not Disturb" sign and taken time for YOU?

I try to and when I do, I and you can too, feel refreshed

So, put up the OUT OF ORDER sign and just relax now and then

Funny Bone

Life can be pretty serious.  Jobs, relationships (or lack of), finances, family, etc.

By keeping that upbeat outlook, when we make things in our lives sound good, feel good they become good

Remember, You Are Affirmed

Out Out Damn Spot

When I get those down and out blues, bad feelings or lackluster thoughts, I send them an eviction notice.

They may not leave right away but I know though positive thinking and actions, they'll be gone.

What's holding you back from reaching the upper goal?
