Someone wrote "It's not about where you are but whom your with"

I like that, I like that a lot. It goes along with "a person can be known by the company kept"

I choose to be around, listen to, read from and about people who do good, act kindly and share goodness

Someone else shared this on Facebook today, how appropriate

Lets join in raising our standards.

My roommate comes from a different faith and we both agree that all God wants to share and from us is peace and love.  I used a phrase "all roads lead to Rome" to which he replied 'can that mean all roads lead to Mecca ?

We agreed that we though small in comparison to the wider world saw that even a drop, each drop in the ocean is needed to make it whole and complete.

Much like the starfish on the sand story, I'll continue to do good, seek goodness and share such good news/actions.

In my little city it may appear I'm one drop of water. A drop that can fill lives

Let's be that one drop in someones life

One More

Birthdays or as my friend Kieth agrees "born days', anniversary's, etc all happen each year.

What makes our being born so special enough to share salutations?

I think it's our communal way of realizing our morality and we  made it another year.

When we're younger aging is fun, growth oriented. Past 30 or so it's a landmark

Mid 50's like me it's "Im still here?"   - Well gosh darn it i am and your here to remark how I've lived through failures, successes, pain, divorce and still a new location, new friends, new loves and new employment

I'll try to celebrate being born each day as each day is a gift.   Lets share our gifts of goodness
At least ONE MORE time

Tuesday, November 29, 2016

For many of us the past few weeks we've seen "less than goodness"
I admit being not happy with results yet I still will seek good. Good people Good thoughts, Good choices, Good happenings.

It's my quest to see and live the goodness in all. Can you join me?

I enjoy volunteering, it's a way to show in action that I care about something. A cause, an organization or event.

The selfless act of giving time or talent helps my soul, karma etc

This weekend I'll be joining hundreds of people riding or crewing the annual SMART Ride

This bicycle event raises funds for seven agencies in southern Florida who provide support for people living with HIV/AIDS

To help me on this effort as I help others via support crew look here

It's hard to live in the past or live for the future.  I try to "live for the present" or the "here and now"

Sure it's wise to keep aware and make plans yet I need to actually LIVE as I breath: with constant action.

Despite what's happening around us, lets live our lives for where we are

Present with each other

Begin Now

Remember that commercial "Just do it?"  Well I do and I know that when I have a challenge and see a needed to review, re plan and re-execute I do.

Talking about change helps with planning but it's the action of doing where a new action comes to fruition

Let's begin our new goals, plans ideas now

Build Your Future

To build your future, detach from the past so you can concentrate on the present.

My two weeks of bad decisions will not haunt me, I'm focusing on being present today and knowing a future is going to be great.

Open Door

Just leave it open—
your door,
your heart,
your day
in every aching moment
it holds.

I've had an odd week so I read this over and over. Repetition keeps me mindful and good thoughts lead to good i.e. Healthy Actions

Self Help: Help Others

We have entire sections in bookstores called Self-Help.

There are no sections called Help Others,
yet the science is clear that it is helping others that
gives us the most satisfaction and productivity.

One thing I do when stuck, stuck on a thought, project, paper etc. is look at "The mechanics of the mind"

Being a person of both habit and training my mind works like a clock. I find looking at what really makes me tick I can adjust thoughts and actions

Can you adjust those mechanics of your mind?

Sometimes our purpose is not known by ourselves. I think that sometimes it is just the small differences we make in the lives we touch

For me my thoughts become actions so I choose to make my life purpose to do and live good thoughts and wise actions

Wish You the Best

Why say 'good bye' when that's so used and common. I try to say something with meaning when I may not see someone for a good time

"I wish you all the best"  I say it because it's true

Life Really is Simple

“Contrary to what we've been told, life is simple. We complicate matters with our choices.”
― Michelle Richardson

Keep Moving

I was stuck. Stuck in emotions, not able to move; move on or create.  It's natural during a loss and wise to know that.

It took time and a respite from the normal to see that I can move on.

I'm letting go of despair, letting go of angst, letting go of anger.

Now I'm moving on. As I write this I'm 1000's of miles from home where I gain a fresh perspective

I'm moving on after speaking with an adviser, several actually and it's proven well

Let's all move on to goodness. What's holding YOU back?

Slow Down

What a time it's been.   You'll notice there has been no new entry for some time. The events in Orlando, a major relationship change, local pride all kept me away

With all that's gone on I'm finding time to SLOW DOWN, realize we can and will move on.

The joy of living trumps non happy changes.

Let's enjoy those moments of joy and share them

The purpose of life be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” - Emerson

What's your purpose in life?

I really try to look beyond the ordinary, the stereotypical and see the beauty in all while sharing that joy with others

Using Those Tools

There's a program that refers to 'using the tools laid at your feet" as a way of seeing what you need has been there already.

The L.I.F.E. workshop calls "trusted support" as

Trusted support means having a relationship with someone in which you feel fundamentally safe, supported, and willing to discuss any issues that create worry, anxiety, stress, or other psychological burden to you

Recently I had a few set backs, a good friend moving away, a co worker leaving a position that made work that much more worth it.  Someone I've known for 14 or so years has cancer.

Instead of complaining I called people, went out to where I could talk

When life looks down, lets look around and see whose on our side. Someone always is

Three Rules

So many of us continue to make choices that affect our lives in ways we never expected
With so many people graduating this seems to fit the reality of the days

Three simple rules in life

  1.  If you do not Go after what you want, you'll never have it
  2.  If you do not ASK, the answer will always be NO
  3.  If you do not step forward, you'll always be in the same place

For me at my age I'm back in graduate school - I'm GOING after it
It's been a rough week with a few set backs so I asked to talk with friends - I asked
The new business is slowly blossoming - we're not in the same place as last week

What rules fit your life right now?

Open Lines

Keep the lines of communication open

I learned this the hard way when a rough patch of work started to alienate me from my family. Let the people closest to you know what’s going on in your work life when things get hectic, so they don’t feel like your lowest priority or worse, suddenly abandoned.
And keep your ears open to hear what they tell you, too — if your spouse or partner, your friends, or your kids start complaining — or tell you straight out that you’re working too much — listen to them. They’re generally going to be a better judge of your behavior than you are.

It's Not That Serious

I've learned not to worry about what  I cannot change or how the future will unfold.  I stopped worrying about the things of my past since I cannot change them

How about you and I enjoy the here and now, not thinking of things like elections, weather, etc

Uncomplicated life is more fun, right?

Enjoy list-free time

This tip comes from Sheree, who says she stopped making lists of things to do in her off-time because of the stress that not finishing the list brought to her weekends

Good idea Sheree.  Sure it's good to keep track of what's on our agenda yet there's times to 'let go' and just enjoy life. Smell the roses so to speak

What are you doing to relieve stress and go List Free in our free time?

Look below, there is space for comments, Feel free to comment or add your List Free ideas please

Learn to say “No.”

If you’re having trouble keeping on top of everything going on in your life, it may be that you’ve committed more time than you have. If you’re like me (and just about everyone else), you don’t like to refuse favors, new responsibilities, or even casual requests

It's OK to say NO to requests that come your way.  Part of maintaining an affirmative life is keeping limitations.  Say YES when you can though.  It's knowing the difference that keeps balance

Attitude is everything

Charles Swindoll wrote
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than the past, than education, money, circumstances, failures and successes and much more than what other people think, say or do.”

I choose to have an upbeat,I can do it attitude.  I know you can as well

We Can

When faced with challenges I find that my attitude will help. I focus on what I can do, knowing there is a solution.

Affirming others, supporting them all add to MY/OUR quality of life

Say this with me
I can and I will

Fears, loose them

Fear can keep me still. Some fear is helpful while other fears seem to hold me back

When I fear it is usually from the unknown or about something I have no  real control over

Let those ideas go and fear will go to

Honesty refers to a facet of moral character and connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integritytruthfulness, straightforwardness, including straightforwardness of conduct, along with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc. Furthermore, honesty means being trustworthy, loyalfair, and sincere.

People in 12 step programs refer to Honesty as a key to beginning a healthy life
There's a lot more to being honest than just NOT telling lies. There are lies of omission, the things we don't say, secrets we don't share. Those can be as devastating as an outright lie.

What's the old saying? "What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive"

Beyond being honest with others I find it imperative to be 100% honest with myself
I've learned my faults, my points of angst and the joys I earned

Lets share our honest selves

Be Grateful

Everyday, I write down something I am grateful for about the day I just lived

That's just one way to "Be Grateful"  - Can you suggest more? Please do with a comment here

No Turning Back

I hear a manta again and again "The past is the past and the future has infinite possibilities"

So true when our past/my past life/lives, achievements, accomplishments etc have been filled with wonder. Yet today I see a fabulous future as I write more and keep learning.

Please join me while not ignoring our past (mistakes, errors or even joys) and fully appreciate the here and now knowing our future will be grand

Make It

As I age I find learning something new can be not just exciting but invigorating. From art to writing to building a new friendship, etc

Let's look at what we can create today

Who To Love

I sat in on a couple of conversations about dating. Each one had the same theme "Before I can love someone else I need to love myself"

How true! Self worth means we see our lives as good and good seeks further goodness.

We heard from The Help  "You're kind, you're smart and you're important"

Well, you are and you can love yourself too

Greet the Day

We get up each day, I mean EVERY day at 7:25am.   Not that we have to be anywhere early it's our dog on schedule.  He gets fed each day same time.

Doing that we decided to greet each day with a warm welcome. It makes for a wholesome start to newness.

Now we look at the start of anything with the same vigor. It helps keep an uplifting outlook

Take a look around you at the usual and see it a new, different way.  I've been surprised at seeing such things.  A new way of looking and seeing refreshes our perspective

Walking along a side street in Boston I saw a large tree stump. Getting closer I saw how it was more than a tall stump.  Now I  look farther for the unusual and that's closer than I had planned

"Peace for the journey" is something I heard to say how a friend is seen. Stephen has that inner peace that is held in esteem. He shares that peace of mind, body and soul by just being Stephen.

Let's BE that peace in our heats that others see about US/ME.

Friendship is Life

There are THINGS that seem important yet its people and our interactions with each other that move MY heart. Yours too I can guess

Friendship is for life. Individual friendships change; we grow and move on still we seek and create new friendships.  The feeling of community in friendships is for life

New Year New Message

There is no justice, only mercy since that's all we have to give

Let's look at the new year and all our life this way. I'll try my best too
